My first Rednesday!

This is the first time that I have participated in Rednesday. Red happens to be my favorite color, and I have alot of it in my decor. Here are a few items for this week. I have many more for future Rednesdays.
My Fiesta knife set. The base looks like a Fiesta disc pitcher. So cool!
My Mom bought this picture for me as a housewarming gift after I saw it in Ballard Designs and I fell in love with it.
I found this cool sign on Ebay. It fit in with my decor and I just happen to live on El Rancho Drive.I can't wait for next weeks Rednesday! I have lots of great red items to share.

Saturday's Finds

My booth buddies and I hit up Cleburne on Saturday and I found aa few good things. We went to a few yard sales, two small flea markets, and the Goodwill. I had a $10 frequent shopper voucher to spend at the Goodwill. Here are my finds:
I found this cute little angel figure for $1.99 at the Goodwill.
This cute anthropomorphic salt shaker was $2.00, now I have to find the pepper!
These two large paperweights were found at the same flea market for $5.00 each. I collect paperweights, so I was so happy to have found them and in my price range. I made myself a promise to never pay more than $5.00 for a paperweight. I stuck to that promise and I now have twenty paperweights in my collection.
I hit the vintage ornament motherload at a yard sale. I got nineteen ornaments and a tree topper for .10 cents each, yep, you heard it here, .10 cents each! Alot of them are Shiny Brights.
I found this Westmoreland bird on a nest for $5.00. They were on Ebay for more than $30.00. It will look great in my girly booth when a space becomes available at my antique mall. I found some other stuff too, but newer things I needed for my house. It was fun going to a new area to junk and it paid off. It was hot as heck, but that didn't stop us from finding some good stuff!

Red Velvet Cake Balls

I found a recipe online for Red Velvet cake balls and decided I would make some as a treat for my Mom on Mother's Day. They were messy, but very easy to do. Recipe: 1 box Red Velvet cake mix 1 16 oz. tub cream cheese frosting Chocolate or white chocolate almond bark Prepare cake mix as you would if you were making a 9 x 13 sheet cake. Let cake cool completely. Crumble cake into a bowl and add entire contents of frosting to crumbled cake. Mix well. Roll into quarter sized balls and place on wax paper lined cookie sheet. Put into freezer until firm. Melt almond bark in microwave. Dip balls into melted almond bark and place onto wax paper and let cool. These are fabulous and my Mom loved them!

Goodwill was good on Saturday!

I hit the Goodwill in North Richland Hills on Saturday and the pickins were pretty good. I found the following items to put in my booth: China painted rose plate, Westbend turquoise wind-up alarm clock, Avon hen on basket, Pyrex butterfly gold mixing bowl, Fenton aqua crest bon-bon dish, Longaberger bread basket, Bambi Little Golden Book, Rocking Bunny, Deviled egg plate, Silver w/ turquoise cross, Pez lunchbox w/ thermos, Cottage metal sign, Milano gold tumbler I got everything really cheap, but I'm posting this from work and can't remember the prices.

Mom's Rock!!!

This is an early Mother's Day wish for all those Mom's out there who made sacrifices, dried tears, provided taxi service, gave sound advice, cooked, cleaned and still found time to be creative. A special shout out to those single Mom's who are able to do the above and then some. Happy Mother's Day!

Canton First Monday Trade Days this weekend!!!

I'm so excited to be able to go to Canton this weekend. This is a once-a-month flea market and one of the best around. There is always great stuff to be found at Canton. I'm sure I'll come back with a trunkload.
