Estate Sale Finds

Happy Monday! Saturday I was able to go to a couple of estate sales and found a few good items. The first one I went to was in another town about 20 minutes away, and the first day of the sale. I was able to review the items on estatesales.net, and I was 4th in line. I took the advice given from a fellow blogger and asked the person at the door where the Christmas stuff was. She pointed me the way and I was the first one up the stairs. I did this last week also and scored what I wanted both times. It does help knowing where you are going to at least have a chance at getting what you want. The main item I wanted at this particular sale was the floral arrangement below.

I wanted those kneehugger elves and mushroom pics! I only have two kneehugger elves and wanted more, but they are not that easy to find here unless you get them at an antique shop or Ebay and I don't want to pay those prices. I got the whole arrangement for $3!

I took the arrangement apart and will re-use the greenery and other picks in craft projects, but the kneehuggers will find their place on my Christmas tree.

At the same sale, I was able to snag these 1" Shiny Brights for .50 cents a box. I bought all seven boxes. They are blue and silver. My son found some old Spiderman comic books, so he was a happy boy. We decided to head home and on the way I spotted an estate sale sign and decided to stop. It didn't look like anyone was there, so I went to the door to see if they had any information posted and realized that I forgot my money in my jacket that I had taken off in the car, so I turned around to go and get it. A lady opened the door asked me if I wanted to come in. She said they weren't open yet, but I could go ahead and come in. I ran to the car, fetched my money and we went on in. Once inside, the lady told me that this was actually the second weekend and these were the leftovers, so I was optimistic that I would find anything good left.

This box of doll furniture was laying on the floor and I asked how much they were and she told me $5.00!!! Sold! I didn't have time to look all the way through it, but I knew it was a good buy.

There were 79 pieces in all, most of it being Renwal. There were pots and pans, silver candlesticks, bath towels, even a family of five and some extra babies, in addition to all of the furniture. I can't believe I found this! A few years ago I found two gallon sized ziplock bags full of vintage doll furniture for $7.50 per bag. At the same sale, I found this Pyrex Cinderella bowl for $2.50 for my mom. It's the largest bowl. I can't believe it was still there! My son scored some vintage Frisbees (I mean really old ones), four for $1.00.

These Norcrest bluebirds were a recent Ebay find. They were $4.99 with $2.99 shipping, and I couldn't pass it up. They are just so cute and in perfect condition. Have a blessed week everyone!

Friday Finds

My air conditioner started acting up last week, so I decided to take Friday off and have someone come and look at it. If you've ever been to Texas, you know it gets hot here fast and you have to have air conditioning. Anyway, I made the appointment for the afternoon so I could get out in the morning and hit a couple of estate and yard sales.

I hit the first day of an estate sale first. I was about 20th in line, but I still managed to find some great items. These vintage ornamants were .25 cents each. They had a shoebox full, and the lady running it said she'd sell me the whole box for $1.00, but the others were in terrible shape, so I opted to just get these.

I got these old jello molds for $2 a stack at the estate sale. Great for vintage inspired crafts!

This pretty Fenton rose bowl was $6.00 at the same sale. I love Fenton ruffled glass items.

This bag full of cookie cutters was $3.00. I picked out what I wanted and will donate the rest. There was even a green handled one in there. Yea!!

This little shell doll was .50 cents. I'm going to display her with my shell boxes.

These vintage rose tumblers were .50 cents each.

These swanky swigs were sitting on a window ledge in the kitchen of the estate sale, and I nearly missed seeing them. I think that's why they were still there when I made my way into the house. I got nine of them for .50 each!!!

My final purchase at the estate sale were these two millifiori paperweights. I collect paperweights, but don't have any like these. They were $3.00 each.

I hit a different estate sale and found this Holt Howard Santa cup for .25 cents. It still had the HH sticker on the bottom.

After I hit the two estate sales, I decided to swing by the Goodwill. Why not, it was on my way home (kinda sorta). I found this wire stand for $5.99. I wasn't sure what I would do with it, but it was unusual, so I went ahead and bought it. I got home and started to wipe it down and the light bulb came on. I put phone insulators in the holders and they fit perfectly. Add a few votive candles and there you go! Instant patio ambiance. This will look cool on my patio in the evening.

The second I saw this candle holder on the shelf at the Goodwill I snapped it up. It reminds me of a french crown. A Bath & Body Works 3-wick candle fits perfectly in it. I recently broke my mercury glass candle holder that sat on my coffee table, so this is a great replacement for $1.99! All in all, it was a good thrifting day, except at the end of the day when the air conditioner repair person showed up. My fan motor had gone out and the total bill was $738.00. Ouch! I may have to stop thrifting for awhile. ; )

My Finds

Hello everyone! I've been out of pocket for several months. I don't really have a good excuse, just busy doing other things I guess. Mom and I closed our booth at the end of February. Business kept getting slower and slower, and we felt that the antique mall we were in was getting away from vintage and antiques and letting people rent booths that were filled with new purses, jewelry and clothes. What kind of antique mall is that? It was more like a flea market. You know, the ones that have lots of new stuff made in China, not good vintage items. Anyway, I have been going to some estate sales, yard sales, and the thrifts since the demise of our booth. I was sad to give up the booth, but someday we will open another booth, but for now we are junking for ourselves, or future booth if it's something too good to pass up haha!. I've found lots of stuff lately, and below is just a portion of what I've found over the past few months.

I found these Spode pieces at an estate sale. The four cereal bowls were $2 and the set of four highball glasses were $3. I have lots of Spode Christmas Tree, but none of these pieces. Score!

These two Fenton rose bowls came from a yard sale for $3 each. The 1960 Wales Japan Cinderella came from an estate sale for $6. I collect vintage Cinderella items, so I was very happy to find her. The Avon royal coach was $1 from a thrift store, and it had stinky old perfume still in it. I thought the coach and Cinderella looked cute together, even if the coach isn't a pumpkin!

I bought a huge bag of assorted cookie cutters at the Goodwill for $4.99. These are the only ones I'm keeping, the rest will go to a non-profit thrift store near my home. The red rimmed coffee pot was $8 at an estate sale and the black rimmed coffee pot was $6 at a different estate sale. The green Wedgewood mini plate was $3. I have a piece of blue Wedgewood that I bought when I went to London on my honeymoon 16 years ago. The plaid thermos was $3, blue Ball jar was $1. The old Burma Shave and Vicks jars were $1 each. The yellow Tupperware scoop was .25 cents. I have a blue one for my sugar jar, but I needed one for my flour jar.

I saved the best for last. I'd been looking for some satin balls to make myself some spun head figures similar to Magpie Ethels, but not to sell, just for my own decorating purposes. I got both of these boxes for $1! The Lefton Holly pieces were $5 and $6 dollars each from an estate sale. I also found the mini Holt Howard Santa cup at the same estate sale for $1. Ucagco angel bells were $1.99 each at the Goodwill. I'm not into bells per se, but they have the sweetest faces, and they were vintage Christmas, so I couldn't leave them behind. The cute snowflake tablecloth that the Christmas finds are sitting on was another find from the Goodwill for $4.99. It is brand new and I believe it may have come from Target. Been doing a little decorating...

This year I decided to change things up a bit and go for a simple mantle. I love the bottle brush trees I bought on sale from Target last year. The mercury glass candelabras are from Home Decorators. They are large and really nice, and the best part was they were on clearance. The Dept. 56 Snowbabies were all purchased from the thrifts for a few dollars each. Here's a few pics of my tree. First without bubble lights and then with. It looks so different with the bubble lights on! This year I decided to add tinsel that I bought from the Goodwill. I do like the look of it, if only my two dogs would leave it alone! One of my favorite tree ornaments is the cute kneehugger elf. I only have one, and I would love to have more, but this is the only one I've ever found while junking. I'm too thrifty to pay the prices on Ebay or in the antique shops. Another of my favorite types of ornaments are the indented mercury glass ornaments. I have several of those, bought at yard sales and estate sales for pennies.

A Vintage Halloween

I have not posted in a really long time. Not because I haven't been junking or don't still have my booth. My son started High School and with that came Marching Band. That in itself has been keeping me busy picking him up from after school practices, getting him ready to perform at football games, taking and picking him up from the contests. I'm just plain wore out. I did make time to decorate a little bit for Halloween this year. I never decorate for Halloween, but I was inspired last year by some of the bloggers decor that I started picking up vintage inspired items this past year.

This is the console in my front entryway. I think it looks pretty cute.

I got this cute felt pumpkin at the Goodwill for $1.29.

The Happy Halloween picture came from Kirkland's. I bought it last year after Halloween for 75% off!!! The cheshire witch was found at the Goodwill for $2.49.

These two cuties came from Tuesday Morning and were $1.99 each in the clearance bin. I think they are just adorable.

I found these mercury glass pumpkin candle holders at Kirkland's last year for .80 cents each. I already had the rusty looking candelabra and the pumpkins fit perfectly in the holders. Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Halloween!

It's Nice To Share

Every once in awhile I find an online store that has good stuff for cheap. Mom and I finally got moved over into the smaller booth. It is a tiny 5 1/2 x 7. We arranged everything so that you can still walk in and turn around, but it is teeny, tiny.
